Meet Our Panelists
Cort Berner
Tax Partner, Grant Thornton
Cort has over 16 years of public accounting experience where he has provided comprehensive income tax planning and consulting for his clients and their owners. He has significant experience providing his clients advice throughout their life cycle, including assisting his clients with analysing the income tax impacts of acquisitions and divestitures, internal reorganizations, initial public offerings, and in seizing tax opportunities when his clients are constructing significant assets or entering new markets. Cort received his Master of Accounting in Taxation from University of Tennessee at Knoxville and a BS in Accounting from Florida State University.
Edith Wiseman
President, FRANdata
Edith Wiseman is a 15 year veteran of FRANdata and serves as President. She has played a pivotal leadership role in the strategic growth of FRANdata’s Capital Access and Franchise Business Intelligence suite of solutions. As President of FRANdata, Wiseman is responsible for sales, product development, and market strategy. Edith received her BA in, Policy Studies, Intl Concentration, German at Dickinson College.
Adam Smith
SVP Commercial Lending, Synovus
Adam Smith is Senior Vice President for Commercial Lending at Synovus with over 16 years of experience in the commercial banking segment, and specializes in franchise finance with a geographic footprint in the Southeast U.S. Mr. Smith earned a Graduate Degree from the Graduate School of Banking at LSU. He also has a BS in management from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
